With Week 23 starting on Monday, owners need to know who has the hot bat. In many cases, this period is the final week of the fantasy regular season, so if you have a hole in your lineup, here are a few hot bats based on last September’s historical stats:
Billy Butler – Kansas City Royals
Believe it or not, Butler is still not owned in all leagues. If he is available, scoop him up and if you are not starting him, do so for next week. Butler killed the ball last September with a .363 average and hit six homers while driving in 26 runs. He doesn’t have much help around him, once again, but he will still get you fantasy points.
Derek Lee – Atlanta Braves
Lee’s 2009 numbers come from when the first baseman played in hitter-friendly Wrigleyville, but his numbers can transfer over because of the potent lineup he is now part of in Atlanta. Last September, Lee hit .386 with nine homers and 23 RBI. Take a strong look at Lee if you need a 1B or U.
Miguel Tejada – San Diego Padres
Yep, THAT Miguel Tejada! The shortstop isn’t posting the same numbers he did in Oakland or Baltimore, but if you need a SS to fill a gap, check him out. Last September, while in Houston, Tejada hit .363 with three homers and 13 RBI while having a slugging percentage of .549. The Padres might be on a skid right now, but Tejada has some talented bats around him and he will produce points for you.
